After a comfortable win over the Winged-Lions, La Samp are back against the Little Cubs, looking to secure an unlikely victory for a chance to distance themselves further from the bottom-three. However, La Samp are on the longest run without a draw among current Serie A sides, having won only three times while picking up eight defeats in their last 11 Serie A matches [3W, 0D, & 8L]. For this clash against AS Roma, Marco Giampaolo could line up the 4—3—1—2 formation with Francesco Caputo and Abdelhamid Sabiri in attack.

The Serie A fixture, AC Milan vs. U.C. Sampdoria, kicks off at 12:30 (GMT+1) on Sunday, February 13, at the San Siro.
After picking Sassuolo apart in a 4-0 win last weekend, Sampdoria make their return, hoping for back-to-back victories after four straight defeats, LLLLW. La Samp are in 16th place on the Serie A table, with 23 points from 6W, 5D, & 13L. A victory over his former team would be a remarkable result for Marco Giampaolo. However, the 54-year-old would be willing to settle for a point, knowing Milan are in fine form. Sampdoria has failed to hit the back of the net in each of their last two away league games, last recording three such games in a row in the competition in May 2018. The Blucerchiati may appear with the Christmas tree, a 4—3—2—1 formation, having Caputo in attack at the top of the shape. On availability, Fabio Quagliarella and Mikkel Damsgaard are both ruled out of this fixture.
S.S.C. Napoli vs. U.C. Sampdoria kicks off at 16:30 (GMT+1) on Sunday, January 9, at the Stadio San Paolo.
Sampdoria picked up a 2-1 defeat to Cagliari on Thursday, despite taking the lead inside the first twenty minutes at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. Gabbiadini (18') had La Samp in the lead at the end of the first forty-five. However, ten minutes after the interval, Alessandro Deiola (55') restored the Sardinians back on level terms. Minutes into the second half, Pavoletti (71') handed Cagliari the lead until full-time. Sampdoria remains in 15th place on the Serie A table, with 20 points from 5W, 5D, & 10L, and are without a win in three Serie A games: LWDDL, ahead of this fixture against Napoli. For the game against Cagliari, Roberto D’Aversa adopted the 4—4—2 with Caputo and Manolo Gabbiadini in attack. He is expected to stick with the same shape on Sunday, when La Samp takes on Napoli in what will be their second Serie A appearance of the new year. Antonio Candreva picked up a straight red against the Sardinians and will not take part in this fixture. The club has a form that reads: WLLWD ahead of this fixture against AS Roma, and an unlikely win here could see Roberto D’Aversa’s side reclaim lost ground. La Samp have failed to win in six Serie A games on the road against teams from Lazio (D1 & L5) and have not scored in the two most recent. The last time Sampdoria found success in Lazio dates back to September, 2018, at Benito Stirpe, against Frosinone (5-0). Roberto D'Aversa and the Blucerchiati appeared with the 4—3—1—2 formation against Venezia and could be doing the same for this game against Roma. Francesco Caputo and Morten Thorsby are expected in attack. The pair have six goals shared between them, four for the former and two for the latter.

Sitting just below Juventus, while having equal points but separated by goal difference, Sampdoria occupies 13th place on the Serie A table, having picked up 5 points from 1W, 2D, & 2L. La Samp were thrashed 4-0 on home turf when they took on Serie A leaders, Napoli, on Thursday. It was the club's second defeat in five games: LDDWL. Roberto D'Aversa could utilize the 4—4—2 formation with Francesco Caputo and the skipper, Fabio Quagliarella, in attack. The 38-year-old Fabio Quagliarella aims to score his first goal of the season against his former side, Juventus.

A brace from Francesco Caputo (31' & 52') coupled with another goal from Antonio Candreva (70') settled the contest of ninety minutes. Empoli had started the first half better and we did well not to concede a goal at that stage, D’Aversa told Sky Sport Italia after the game. But the positive is that we hung on and then took the lead, he added. It was Sampdoria's first win of the season, LDDW, and it moved the club to 11th place with a total of 5 points gathered from 1W, 2D, & 1L. La Samp have an average of 1.25 g.s.p.g, having hit the back of the net five times in four games this season. The club has also conceded three times (0.75 g.c.p.g) and has a G.D. of +2. A victory over Napoli appears to be near-impossible, but a point would be a fine result, considering red-hot-form Napoli are currently at their best. U.C. Sampdoria picked up a point in the goalless draw against Sassuolo on Matchday 2 when both sides met at the Mapei Stadium. Sampdoria will make an entry for their Serie A return behind the 3-2 Coppa Italia win on home soil over U.S. Alessandria Calcio. The opposition finished with a man down after Simone Benedetti (R. 84') was shown the red with minutes left to play. Aiming to get their Serie A campaign off to a flying start, La Samp will be on the hunt for at least a point against Milan. Ahead of the new season, Sampdoria concentrated on strengthening their attack, - bringing in as many as three center-forwards. Ernesto Torregrossa made the summer switch to join Samp from Brescia for a fee of €6M. One more striker, in the shape of Manuel De Luca came in from Chievo Verona on a free transfer.
