Superliga Argentina: Week 11

In week 8 we had several very interesting matches, among which we were able to predict the victories of Racing, Gimnasia de la Playa and River, the latter fulfilling our prediction by winning by a large number of goals.

We also managed to predict the draw between San Lorenzo and Talleres.

It was indicated that draws between Argentinos Jrs and Banfield, and Velez vs Huracan and were likely and so it proved.

Racing vs Tigre

Racing is playing better and better and is slowly getting back to its best. Last game was a convincing 3-1 win over Central Cordoba in a phenomenal performance by striker Enzo Copetti. Great news for Racing is that their star goalkeeper Gabriel Arias is back and also, that within a week midfielder Emiliano Vecchio will complete his recovery, these two players are among the best in the league, and getting them back will be essential for the team to continue to grow.

Tigre have a great team and are coming off a 3-0 win over Platense last weekend. It’s a tournament with ups and downs for Tigre, with good performances, but nevertheless they have not been able to get the good results they did in the first half of the season.

We expect a great game with goals from both teams, but ultimately a win for Racing, who will be playing at home.

Gimnasia de la Plata vs Huracan

Gimnasia got back to winning ways after three games, which lifted the team’s spirits and put them back in contention for the top places in the table. They did it by getting a 1-0 win against Lanus, having the defence and also the midfielder Brahian Aleman as usual.

This week they face a tough Huracan side, who are unbeaten in nine games and are having a much more positive second half of the season than the first. They came from a 1-1 draw against a good Velez team in a very good performance.

We expect a very close game, possibly a goalless draw.

Argentina Copa de la Profesional | Over 2.5 Goal Odds

Rosario Central vs Central Cordoba

Rosario Central surprised us all, getting a great 3-0 win against Arsenal, with the peculiarity of having two goals scored by the goalkeeper Gaspar Servio, who was in charge of the two penalties in favor of his team. It was a match that we expected to be very close, but it was broken in the 21st minute when Cristian Chimino, Arsenal’s defender, was sent off.

They are facing Central Cordoba, who are going through a very weak present, with several important players injured. They have lost four of their last five games, which has pushed them to the bottom of the table.

We expect Rosario’s good moment to extend, and we predict a possible victory, especially considering that they play at home.

River Plate vs Sarmiento

River continues to slowly accumulate victories, which is slowly bringing them closer to their goal of getting to the top of the table. Their last match was a 3-0 win over Aldosivi, with the debut of their star signing Miguel Borja, who came in from the substitutes’ bench and in just twenty minutes scored a goal and an assist.

They face Sarmiento, one of the worst teams in the championship, coming from a 1-3 loss against Colon. Undoubtedly a much inferior team to the one coached by Marcelo Gallardo.

We expect a resounding victory for River, by a large number of goals

Boca Juniors vs Potronato

Boca is a box of surprises, as they seem to be two teams in one. First one team plays against Argentinos Jrs and loses 0-2, showing that they have no desire to play, and the next weekend they win 3-0 against a tough opponent like Estudiantes, showing that they are one of the best teams in the country. For these reasons we don’t know what to expect from Boca.

On the other side we have Patronato, who just lost 1-2 against Barracas Central in what was the biggest robbery of the year, with very questionable refereeing decisions, wrongly disallowed goals to Patronato and wrongly awarded penalties to Barracas. This has caused a stir in the country as the president of Barracas is Claudio Tapia, who is also president of the Argentine professional league, so there is speculation that his team is benefiting.

Predicting Boca’s result is very difficult, and even more so knowing how Patronato’s players are in good spirits. We expect Boca to win as they have a much bigger squad than their opponents.

Argentinos Juniors vs San Lorenzo

Argentinos Juniors are on a roll, they have won four of their last five games, which put them second in the standings, they are a team that has a very clear style and are playing better and better, however there is good news and bad news. The bad news is that their star player, midfielder Fausto Vera, has been sold to Corinthians and it will be very difficult to replace him. The good news is that this weekend will see the return of the team’s star striker, Paraguayan Gabriel Avalos.

They face San Lorenzo, a team that is slowly improving and starting to get results under coach Ruben Insua. They come from a 1-1 draw against Talleres in a very even match.

We expect a win for Argentinos, although a draw would not be strange, as San Lorenzo is the team that has drawn most times in the championship, with 7 draws in 10 matches.

Velez Sarsfield vs Godoy Cruz

Velez is fully focused on their biggest goal of the year, which is to continue progressing in the Copa Libertadores, this coming week they face Talleres in the quarter finals, so for their next match against Godoy Cruz they are expected to use many players who usually occupy a place on the substitutes’ bench.

On the other hand, Godoy Cruz is a team in formation with a lot of young players, which has started this second half of the year in a great way and is among the top of the table.

We expect a win for Godoy Cruz, bearing in mind that they are playing at home, and that Velez is focused on the Copa Libertadores.
