Superliga Argentina: Week 4
We’re back with week 3 of the Argentina Liga Professional de Football.
Rosario Central vs Gimnasia La Plata
This match is very uneven, we find the team that has been playing better in recent times, Gimansia, which has been undefeated for the last ten matches, having won eight of them, and on the other side we find the team that has been the most disappointing in recent times in Rosario, they do not have a clear idea or a well formed team.
As a relevant fact we must add that former soccer player Carlos Tevez will make his debut as manager on Rosario’s bench. Trying to renew the hopes of a team that has a lot to work on.
Without any doubt, the expected result is Gimnasia’s victory.
Boca Juniors vs Union Santa Fe
Boca has been playing better and better under the guidance of its manager Sebastian Battaglia, who not long ago was highly questioned, to the point that the fans were asking for his resignation. Finally, with the winning of the Copa de la Liga, things have settled down and now the team has found a style that gets them the results they need.
On the other side we have Union, a team that could only get one win so far in the league, and that comes from losing against River, by a resounding 5-1.
In Boca’s last training session, the coach designed a team with substitutes, wanting to save the starters for the Copa Libertadores, which returns next week, but we still think that Boca is the favourite.

Defensa y Justicia vs Velez Sarsfield
This will be a very interesting match, two very competitive teams that have shown they have what it takes to fight anyone, however Velez (who have signed experienced Uruguayan defender Diego Godin) has been playing better in the last few days.
If we add to this the fact that Defensa y Justicia has not won any of the games they have played so far in the league, and also that they have lost their best player Walter Bou, who will curiously be transferred to Velez, the result we expect is a Velez victory.
Estudiantes vs Newell’s Old Boys
This will be the most hard-fought game of the day, as both teams are in very positive moments, and both teams stand out in the defensive aspect, with their central defenders being the stars of both teams. Newells is the only leader in the standings and is three points ahead of Estudiantes, so with a win, Estudiantes could catch up with them.
Knowing all this and that they are at similar levels, it is likely that we will see a game with very few goals, probably a draw.
River Plate vs Lanus
The best team in the country has just regained the confidence they had lost in the first few matches, beating Union and scoring five goals. Lanus on the other hand is rebuilding, having sold their two best players, Lopez and Bernabei, and suffered the retirement of their key midfielder Diego Valeri.
Knowing the moment both teams are going through, we are likely to see a River victory, probably by a large amount of goals.
Racing Club vs Aldosivi
Racing has been going through ups and downs, winning one game convincingly and losing the next one disappointingly. They are not being able to show the great level they showed last tournament, and that is due in large part to the poor performance of their stars and the injury of Carlos Alcaraz, the young player who had become the team’s driving force.
This match can serve as a boost for them if they can take advantage of it, as they have to face the worst team of the championship so far, Aldosivi lost 3 of the first three matches they played in the championship and drew the fourth one.
Undoubtedly, Racing is the favourite to win, especially considering that they are playing at home and need to give that joy to their fans.
Argentinos Juniors vs Arsenal de Sarandi
Argentinos proved to be a very reliable team in the first semester, and is looking to recover that level and confidence they once had. On the other side we have Arsenal, who still could not win any game so far in the league, is really a very poor team that is boring to watch.
The favourite to win is undoubtedly Argentinos Jinors.
