Chelsea takes on Malmö FF in a UEFA Champions League Group H fixture scheduled for 20:00 (GMT+1) on Wednesday, October 19 at Stamford Bridge. A crew of French match officials, François Letexier (first official), Cyril Mugnier (assistant referee), Mehdi Rahmouni (assistant referee), and Thomas Leonard (fourth official), will have the helping hand of Alejandro Hernández from Spain in the VAR room.

Chelsea
Chelsea’s defeat to Juventus on UCL Matchday 2 leaves the Blues as second best in Group H, while having 3 points after 1W, 0D & 1L. It was a surprising result, having in mind that the Old Lady entered the contest of ninety minutes without key players in the shape of Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata. The Blues had all the important numbers on the pitch in their favor. - A 74% ball possession, coupled with 771 passes completed compared to Juve’s 26% and 287 passes. The defeat was Chelsea's fourth in their last 22 UCL games (13W, 5D, & 4L). However, Thomas Tuchel will utilize Wednesday's window of opportunity to make up for lost points. Over the weekend, the Blues picked up a 1-0 win over giant-killers, Brentford, in what was their second victory in five games across all competitions: DLLWW. On Wednesday, the UEFA Champions League title holders could appear in the dynamic 3—5—2 formation with Lukaku and Kai Havertz or Timo Werner in attack. Chelsea could be without Pulišić (ankle injury) and N'Golo Kanté (coronavirus) for this game. Antonio Rüdiger failed to feature in Chelsea’s win over the weekend but is expected to find his way back to the starting line-up on Wednesday.
Malmö FF
Once again, Malmö were trashed 4-0 on UCL Matchday 2 by F.C. Zenit at the Krestovsky Stadium. The embarrassing defeat leaves the Swedish outfit at the bottom of Group H, with no points and an overwhelming negative goal difference of -7 after back-to-back UCL defeats: 0W, 0D & 2L. Over the weekend, Malmö were the ones doing the winning, crushing Östersund, 3-0, in an Allsvenskan fixture, leaving the club with three victories in five games across all competitions: WLLWW. Manager Jon Dahl Tomasson will look to frustrate Chelsea in a bid to salvage a point or two, while hoping Juventus picks up a win over FC Zenit in another Group H fixture on Wednesday. A defensive 5—3—2 formation with Colak pairing up with Veljko Birmancevic in attack is expected. Colak has 11 goals for the club in 20 domestic appearances. Ola Toivonen and Jonas Knudson are out of the squad due to knee injuries, while Anel Ahmedhodzic is suspended following the red card against Zenith on UCL Matchday 2. Niklas Moisander returned for Malmö over the weekend and will be available for the club on Wednesday.
